This weekend I was Memphis-bound because my best friend performed at the Cooper Young Festival! Exciting! She performed an entire 45 minute set – all her own and it was AMAZING in case you were wondering! (Check out her music at www.candyfoxmusic.virb.com) Along with all the musical performances they had street vendors GALORE! I was on could 9! Once her performance was over we explored the strip and I found a few creative booths that I had to tell ya’ll all about…
First up, we visited the Me & Mrs. Jones tent. As soon as I saw a “DIY” sign and Mrs. Jones herself painting a piece of furniture I knew I was in the right place!
I was like a kid in a candy store! I saw one cool piece after another…after another…I had to take a breath and calm down! Once I did, I tapped Mrs. Jones on the shoulder because I had to know exactly what it was that she did…my friend just laughed at me.
Her tent was a pop-up shop of sorts displaying her work and it happen to be right outside of the Me & Mrs. Jones Studio on the same street. How cool is that!? She transforms walls, ceilings, floors, cabinets, furniture and fixtures using glazes, paints, plaster, waxes and metal leak. She also offers stenciling and painted monograms as additional touches. Some of her staff were there as well and I could see the love and care they had put into each piece displayed!
This beautifully stenciled dresser caught my attention and the surrounding items were an extra bonus…Draw Nobs, cute damask design curtain and Signage with “Hometown” messages that all the Tennessee locals could enjoy.
Mrs. Jones out did herself on this old antique chair that she covered with Annie Sloan’s Chalk Paint. It finish felt really smooth and had a very cool texture! Want to see more of her awesome work? Or maybe you want to purchase a piece…click HERE for her website.
Now this next tent caught my attention because if the bright colors of the furniture pieces on display. I was in awe of the talent this Mother-Daughter-Sister team put into all of their pieces of work…
Mom is in the background painting a stool set, one of her daughters is painting a set of cabinets with hinges still attached and her sister is paining canvas art. And look at the colorful shelf in the background to the left…I would have purchased that if I wasn’t traveling. There were pre-made pieces and they were making other items right in front of everyone to showcase their awesome talents. I think that’s smart business practices!
They took a simple folding chair and hand painted the seat back and chair legs. On the actual seat they put a layer of grout and pushed in these colorful glass marbles. Delightfully Genius! I totally misplaced their business card but as soon as I find it I will post their contact info so you can see more of their amazing items!
